CHALLENGE INEQUALITY,
INSPIRE CREATIVITY,
DRIVE SOCIAL CHANGE

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Diversity Research and Policy Program (DRPP) at the University of Michigan (UM) is to bridge cutting-edge scholarship on racial/ethnic diversity challenges with policy-relevant social change activities - education, service, and leadership

OUR VISION

CHALLENGE INEQUALITY, INSPIRE CREATIVITY,
DRIVE SOCIAL CHANGE

Focusing on the interplay between innovative diversity scholarship and policy-relevant action can help to better address pressing racial/ethnic disparities at multiple levels – higher education, organizational/community, and national/international.

UM-DRPP also addresses racial/ethnic inequalities through promoting mission-driven collaboration between the UM School of Education (SOE), Institute for Social Research (ISR), Department of Afroamerican and African Studies (DAAS), and other stakeholders at the UM and beyond.

Four major DRPP priority areas continue to expand the innovative research, curricula, and leadership profile of the SOE and Center for the Study of Higher and Postsecondary Education: (1) diversity issues in higher education; (2) health, science and pipeline development; (3) workforce diversity and inequality; and (4) racial/ethnic studies and public policy.
